SJMA To Offer Free Community Day
SAN JOSE, California.-The San Jose Museum of Art will offer a free community day on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 9, 2010, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The program will include hands-on art projects, immersive in-gallery experiences, live jazz music, and more. Docents will be on hand to provide impromptu, family-friendly tours of the galleries. Admission is free.
Art-making activities will include beaded jewelry, and pop-up cards, and drawing based on colorful desserts as seen in the current exhibition Wayne Thiebaud: 70 Years of Painting. Gallery activities for youth and adults will focus on creative writing and poetry writing. Live entertainment will include jazz quintet De Jazz Vu, which will perform on vibraphone, flute/sax, piano, bass, and drums from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., and other performers to be announced.
