On Tuesday, February 23, 2010, superstar sportscaster Fernando Fiore stopped by the AT&T store on Story Road in San Jose to meet his fans, sign autographs and to give away prizes.
“I have been a spokesperson for AT&T for five years now and I am a big supporter of grassroots soccer organizations,” Fiore said. “It is always a good thing to work with a company that cares bout the Hispanic community like AT&T does.”
Soccer legend Claudio Suarez was also at the store.
“The purpose of this event is to show that AT&T is committed to the Hispanic market and we are here to help them with whatever they need,” said Christina Gamboa, senior marketing manager for AT&T. “Fernando and Claudio are also here to promote the upcoming soccer match between Mexico and Bolivia.”
As for the soccer fans in San Jose, Fiore said he likes their passion and dedication to the game.
“I have been a fan of San Jose soccer since the MLS first came to San Jose. I am also a big fan of Spartan Stadium and the atmosphere the fans bring to the games there.”
Fernando Fiore is the host of the widely popular República Deportiva Sunday sports show, and is one of the most-recognized celebrities in the Hispanic community. Thousands of Hispanic futbol fanatics turn to Fiore each week for the latest happenings in the world of soccer.
Claudio Suarez, known as “El Emperador,” started his soccer career with Mexico City’s club Pumas UNAM, where he won the league’s Championship in ‘91. Five years later he transferred to Club Deportivo Guadalajara, and later to UANL Tigres where he played until 2005. Suarez holds the title for most international games played by a Mexican soccer player—he has a total of 178 games played on the international level. El Emperador currently plays in the MLS for Chivas USA.
