Holiday Memories Last a Lifetime
[San Jose] -When you think of Costco you think of large bulk quantities. But when it comes to the YMCA, the multi-billion dollar global retailer is focusing on smaller bundles of joy -YMCA school-aged children.
The Santa Clara Costco recently partnered with the San Jose Latino Police Officers Association to present donated furniture, bikes and assorted goodies to more than 125 children in the East Valley Family YMCA Vinci Park Elementary youth programs. The programs serve children with financial, academic and social needs.
"At a time when family budgets are tight and the unemployment rate is at an all-time high, it is nice to know there are organizations and people who care," said Lupe Ruvalcaba, associate executive of Community Programs at East Valley Family YMCA. East Valley Family YMCA serves nearly 13,000 people in eastern San Jose with health and fitness classes, youth development, camps, family programs, swimming and aquatics, and other activities for people of all ages, incomes and abilities.PHOTO: Vinci Park student Amelia Gomez was one of the lucky students to receive a new bicycle.
